I started Carlson Tennis in the summer of 2008 to be the tennis program of Minnetonka Country Club. In the first two years we have been able to grow tennis in the South Lake Minnetonka Area by offering junior and adult programs to both non-members and members of Minnetonka Country Club. My vision for Carlson Tennis is to offer lesson programming to as many people as possible and to give back to our community.
In 2009 Carlson Tennis partnered with the City of Shorewood to help increase tennis participation. We started by offering a Tennis Block Party and Fun Fridays which are free tennis events to the residents of Shorewood and friends interested in some fun and learning. This year we have added 3 camps that we will run at Badger Park for the City of Shorewood. With Shorewood resurfacing all of their courts in the past year we are sure tennis participation will continue to grow.
Going into our 3rd year, our staff continues to grow and improve. Last year, I added Jon Koenigs to the team. Jon was a great help with all aspects of the program and will be back this year and hopefully for years to come.. Justin Mootz will be in his first year with us; however he is no stranger to Carlson Tennis. I taught and coached Justin while he was in high School and college in Sioux Falls, SD. Liz Donohue, Katy Jelsma, and Dan Richards will be helping us out on a part time basis, and prove to be a great influence on our junior players. At the beginning of every season we get together and go over the Carlson Tennis teaching methods and vision. We pride ourselves on being a team.
With a great staff in place and great tennis programming, 2010 is sure to be your best year with Carlson Tennis. We are always looking to add more players to the program and with the addition of the Badger Park tennis courts we have the room. If you or your friends have any questions, please call or email me and I promise to get back to you in a timely fashion.
All the best,
